Questions

How much does it cost to send KES 1,000 on M-Pesa?

Sending KES 1,000 to another M-Pesa user costs KES 13, so KES 1,013 leaves your account. Sending to Airtel Money or T-Kash users costs the same.

How much does it cost to send KES 5,000 on M-Pesa?

KES 57, for a total of KES 5,057. Any amount from KES 3,501 to 5,000 pays the same charge.

How much does it cost to send KES 10,000 on M-Pesa?

KES 90, for a total of KES 10,090. From KES 20,001 up to the KES 250,000 limit, the charge stays at KES 108.

What are the M-Pesa withdrawal charges in 2026?

At an agent, withdrawing KES 1,000 costs KES 29, KES 5,000 costs KES 69 and KES 10,000 costs KES 115. The smallest withdrawal is KES 50, which costs KES 11, and the charge tops out at KES 309 from KES 50,001 to 250,000.

How much are M-Pesa Paybill charges?

It depends on the business, because each one picks its Paybill tariff. Where the customer pays the full fee, paying KES 1,000 costs KES 10 and KES 5,000 costs KES 34. On the shared Mgao tariff the same payments cost KES 10 and KES 16. Some businesses cover the whole fee, and then you pay nothing.

How much does it cost to withdraw M-Pesa cash at an ATM?

KES 35 for KES 200 to 2,500, KES 69 up to 5,000, KES 115 up to 10,000 and KES 203 up to 35,000. KES 35,000 is the most per ATM withdrawal, and your bank may add its own fee on top.

What is the M-Pesa limit per transaction and per day?

You can move up to KES 250,000 in one transaction and KES 500,000 in one day. Your M-Pesa balance can hold up to KES 500,000.

Is Buy Goods (Till) free for customers?

Yes. Paying a Till number is free for you at any amount, because the merchant pays the fee. The one exception Safaricom lists is authorised fuel stations, where the customer pays the charge.

How can I pay less in M-Pesa charges?

Send one larger amount instead of many small ones: ten sends of KES 1,000 cost KES 130, while one send of KES 10,000 costs KES 90. Watch the band edges, since sending KES 2,500 costs KES 33 and KES 2,501 costs KES 53. In shops, pay by Till, which is usually free for you.
